The
Father's Heart Street Ministry
brings hope to the hopeless by demonstrating a heart of love through
giving and ministering to the needs of the poor, outcast, downtrodden
and broken hearted...with an economy that is suffering, jobs that have
been lost or cut, the loss of city funding for many social services, and
shelters that have been shut down, there are many people finding
themselves in hopeless and desperate situations.
The Father's Heart Street
Ministry
GOES
OUT (Luke 10:37) to minister to these people where they are at.
One of the ways we accomplish this is by distributing much needed items
for every day warmth and survival--things we take for granted--blankets,
sleeping bags, coats, shoes, pants, socks, hats, gloves, hygiene kits,
backpacks, shirts and more. We take them directly to the streets and
distribute them to anyone who has a need. It doesn't
matter who they are, male or female, young or old, or of any particular
race or religion. Sometimes they are found on the streets, in a shelter
or in a recovery home. Sometimes they are simply poor and in great need.
Many times the need a person has goes
beyond items of warmth. Often, they need someone to talk to, someone to
hug them, to wipe away a tear, or to serve them a hot meal. Sometimes
their greatest need is just to know that someone cares about them.
It is the heart of the Father to show
those that are lonely and hurting that they are a person of value and
worth, no matter who they are, what they have done, or why they are
where they are. Jesus is full of compassion. That is His character--to
love unconditionally.
It is the goal of this ministry to be
Jesus' hands extended, reaching out in love, allowing His love to flow
through us as we bless those that are in need. We want to do more than
just talk of the love of Jesus, but to show this love in action by
comforting those who are in need of comfort. The compassion of Jesus
always caused Him to move into action. (Matthew 9:35,36)
